| This year’s High-Level Political Forum 2024 (HLPF)on Sustainable Development will be held from 8 to 17 July and focus on the five Sustainable Development Goals SDGs). The HLPF in 2024, without prejudice to the integrated, indivisible and interlinked nature of the Sustainable Development Goals, will review in-depth: Goal 1. End poverty in all its forms everywhere; Goal 2. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture; Goal 13. Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts; Goal 16. Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels; and Goal 17. Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development. The theme will be “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”. Annually, the Forum offers an opportunity for a certain number of governments to voluntarily report on their progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in their country. This year, among the thirty-five countries participating, are 23 where the Daughters of Charity serve. In preparation for this important Forum, the Justice Coalition of Religious (JCoR) Office initiated a seven-month training program about advocacy skills, with other members of the Civil Society, to prepare them for the HLPF. JCoR has a very informative guide to be used for this event: https://jcor2030.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/2024-High-Level-Political-Forum-English.pdf The HLPF sessions will be generally available to all people across the globe through the UN Web TV |
